Is there a medical procedure that involves cleansing of the blood ? and why is it done ?

Yeah it's called hemo dialysis. And the reason people are having that done is because their kidneys are in acute or chronic kidney failure....you have either a catheter..in your chest and/or leg upper thigh...or a graft or fistula in your arm/leg...blood is pull through a artery line into a dialysis machine..cleaned from waste and pollutants...and given back to you through a venous line...and like I said you do this because of kidney failure...until you are lucky and/or blessed to get a donor kidney which can be hard because you need to have a VERY close match. Is there a medical procedure that involves cleansing of the blood ? and why is it done ?
Yes, commonly called dialysis. It's done when the kidneys fail or can't properly do the job- or if there is something in the bloodstream that simply has to be removed NOW. Technically that is called hemofiltration or hemodiafiltration, but the basic principle is the same.Is there a medical procedure that involves cleansing of the blood ? and why is it done ?
You can get an infection that can travel through your blood stream - I know that, but in those cases it's life threatening and usually ends up worse case scenario - they may do that to help the overall prospect of not life but end of life I guess.
This would be done if the individual were ';septic'; which means having poisoned blood from an open wound or other infected sore.
there used to be... they drain blood thinking its ';bad'; and when the sick get weaker they have more ';bad'; blood drained until they die... not used anymore... as u can tell it was not very effective...
