The Bosnia Ethnic cleansing of genocide details please.?

Our group has to make a visual presentation of the Bosnian ethnic cleansing in the early 1990'. I can understand the the Serbs wanted to get rid of all the Muslim Bosnian and that is just basically all i know.

Of course, you should counterbalance my view with of a Bosnian Muslim view to get a full picture. The problem with this is that there are no Bosnian Muslims here in Yahoo Answers, other than Serbophobes.





I will shortly try to explain you what you are dealing with:





Bosnia entered into a civil war. On one side you ended having Croats and Bosnian Muslims of Izetbegovic, and on the other side you had Serbs and Bosnian Muslims under Avdic. The Croats were the third side but stood on the Bosnian Muslim-NATO-Middle East side. Fikret Avdic had a bit more than 1000 soldiers. He ended being defeated by Izetbegovic.





Just a small digression. Look at the big picture and you should recognize the Germany-Croatia axis and the USA-Germany confronted to Russia-Serbia. Russia was very weak in the early 90ies and it was great timing to conquer some East. Serbia and its regional influence needed to be crushed. This ended with the biggest NATO camp in Europe, in Kosovo...





As the civil war in Croatia was raging, the ethnic Bosnian leaders were arming and dealing a delicate situation of Bosnia. They agreed to follow a peace treaty under Portuguese politician Jose Cutileiro by which Bosnia was to be a confederation. But, Izetbegovic was hinted by USA ambassador Zimmerman that a unified Bosnia under Muslim central political control was needed to be created so the agreement was canceled. The Izetbegovic Muslims were backed by USA, Germany and several Middle East countries, Turkey, etc. UN was corrupted by political pressure coming from USA, Germany and their NATO allies. Thus, as much as certain UN commanders tried to be neutral, they simply could not manage it in the bigger picture. We can say that the UN peacekeeping force was biased against the Serbs. You will find a great youtube link on that issue of media manipulation and why the war needed to be created.





Practically, the Bosnian Muslim population was thrown into war against Serbs who had the support of the remains of the Yugoslav Army. Bosnian Serbs only outer support was Serbia. Serbs were tough but not strong enough to defy NATO for a longer time.





The Bosnian civil war was bloody. 100,000 people were killed; 60,000 Muslims and 30,000 Serbs. There was ethnic cleansing, wartime rapes, war crimes and atrocities.





The event which took place at Srebrenica was named ';genocide.'; You will find great links to what happened there through the pasted questions, but I will try to give you a brief picture.





Srebrenica was a demilitarized zone under UN protection; the famous Dutch peacekeepers. A Muslim military commander called Naser Oric was hiding under the protection of the Dutch peacekeepers and was killing the Serbs in the villages around Srebrenica. Perhaps some 1000 Serbs were killed until Serb commander Ratko Mladic decided to attack Srebrenica. He gave an ultimatum to Muslim military forces in Srebrenica and then he encircled that city in a U shape, allowing Muslim women and children to get out of it. The Muslim men were killed... You will find links telling about the number of killed Muslims in that area. Probably around 5-7000 male Muslims.





To answer to your last question, this massacre happened because a war happened. The Bosnian war happened because USA and Germany created it. USA and Germany used the media manipulation and political criminality and are responsible for what came out of it.





The Serbs did not want that war and did not want to get rid of all the Bosnian Muslims as you say. Serbs wanted the confederation agreement and wanted to be own rulers on own territory as Bosnia was disintegrating.
