What's your opinion on cleansing systems, I looked on line, is it safe?

Usually they are safe. I would not recommend going on a cleanse for longer than a week though. Make sure you order from a reputable company... Isagenix is one. I believe most gyms and trainers could sell you this stuff.

Some people swear by maple syrup, water, lemon juice and cayenne pepper, but I would not try it personally.

They may clean out your colon and give your digestive system a little break, but they are not good for weight loss because of the simple fact that NO ONE can eat only cleansing foods forever. No one. Therefore, they will be forced to follow a healthy diet eventually, if they want to keep the weight off that is.

Bottom Line:

They are good for cleansing (max about 7-10 days) but not for permanent weight loss or maintenence.

Good Luck, Good HealthWhat's your opinion on cleansing systems, I looked on line, is it safe?
i know so many people who have had HUGE results from them. you feel better, lose weight, and your digestive system is improved!

during the time of cleansing you feel a little nauseated, but that dissipates as you move forward! What's your opinion on cleansing systems, I looked on line, is it safe?
the best one on the market is on this site. look around on it. I tried it and it worked great. don't settle for anything else if you are considering a cleanse. I have much more energy, lost weight cause i could digest my food better, and i have a clearer mind. and you cannot clean your colon in 7-10 days. it took years to get it dirty, it takes some time to clean it.

Accutane and a Whole Body Cleanse?

I have been on Accutane for a month and I just started a whole body cleanse with only natural ingredients, and no vitamins. I am just wondering if this will be ok, or if I should stop taking it since it would interfere with the acne med. Accutane and a Whole Body Cleanse?
You may want to stay on it, cause most cleanses detox the body of toxins %26amp; guess what. You might get a nasty boil cause the toxins come out of your skin also. Trust me on this one!

Cleansing diets? have you done on one? good or bad? did it work?

ok who has done a cleansing diet? what did you eat/drink? did it work? how much did you lose? how quick? i need to lose some weight in a week and wondering if this is a good method??Cleansing diets? have you done on one? good or bad? did it work?
I have. a couple years ago i went on a raw vegan diet for a month or so to detox my body. not for weight reasons, and honestly i didn't keep track of my weight.

samples of foods include salads, raw pine nuts, raw fruits and veggies, basically. it worked well, i felt so healthy!

but, i'm a meat eater at heart, so after a month of it, i got tired of it and went back to beefy goodness!!!

  • Whats a good way to cleanse your body of toxins?

Figure to spend a week eating lots of raw veggies and whole grains. Stop all sugar, white flour and caffeine during this process. When you get up in the morning, have a cup of hot water with the juice of a lemon and some honey.

You can find a commercial cleansing product or make one yourself. Psyllium seeds and some kind of probiotic from a health food store will also help to clear out your intestinal tract. The probiotics will put back all the good bacteria that any rounds of antibiotics have killed.Whats a good way to cleanse your body of toxins?
Drink lots of water and eat a lot of fiber-rich foods (like whole grains, fruits, and veggies). Both have cleansing properties.Whats a good way to cleanse your body of toxins?
Drink water. The body needs a minimum of 2000mils of fluid a day just to survive and the best fluid is water, Clean pure and no colours flavours or preservatives. As for foods celery is very good but basically a balanced diet heavy on the fruit and vegetables and light on fats and sugars is the perfect way to help cleanse your body.
I was just reading on this thing called colonix. There is a website that you can go to and read testimonials and it even has pictures of the things that came out of people, I warn you, its sort of graphic. Some say they even lost weight due to the cleansing, experienced clearer skin as well. Our colons hold a lot of toxins. I am thinking of buying it myself. The cheaper version would be to cut out ALL processed foods and meat eating nothing but fruits and veggies for a period of time to allow your body to take a break from animal fats and all of the preservatives that cause us to have built up yeast and parasites in our intestines. They also have something for the liver as well.

I have gone for actual colonics (they flush water into your rectum to cleanse the bowel) but I didn't find it to be effective.
Drink lots of water and eat food with LOTS of fiber (or buy something like Metamucil and put it in a smoothie or something.)

What is very good colon cleansing treatment?

Take 12 ripe bananas, mash them and leave on the counter to brown overnight. The next day, scrap mash into bowl and add 1 cup of Captain Morgan, tablespoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, 1 clove, 1/8 tsp alum, boil, let cool, use as enema, drink all remainig fluids, lay on your side for an hour resting comfortably. What is very good colon cleansing treatment?
Aloe leaf, senna, cascara sagrada, ginger, and cayenne pepper are used in colon cleansing and restore the normal bowel movements. They enhance the bile secretion that helps in liver cleansing. E.g. barberry stimulates the function of liver and gall bladder, fennel and garlic destroy harmful bacteria in the colon. Both these herbs avoid formation of gas.

These colon-cleansing herbs are easily available in many health stores. You just need to follow the usage instructions on the ready to use packets carefully. Moderate usage will avoid too frequent bowel movements that can lead to dehydration. As you use these herbs regularly, you can judge the effectiveness of the herb and adjust your dosage accordingly. While cleansing your colon with these herbs, do not forget to take fiber in your meals. As you adopt healthier lifestyle changes like healthy diet and adequate consumption of water, you will find the health of your colon will improve faster.

JAMA has published a very deceptive article in which they claim research supports that taking antioxidants contributes to mortality. The reported information is based on a flawed meta-analysis of many different studies including some conducted on vulnerable populations such as profoundly ill extended care residents.

In fact, from the data you can see that people were moved into certain groups to design a conclusion.

Here is the latest criticism of the JAMA article coming in from the scientific community:

JAMA Publishes Meta-Analysis on Antioxidants – Industry Responds

    Quote:

At issue in this case, is another meta-analysis, another examination of previously published research. As is the case with any meta-analysis, selection of included (and excluded) studies becomes quite important, with industry arguing that the researcher’s criteria predisposed the analysis to the ultimate results - a significant increase in mortality. Another consistent observation made of the study results, and one which actually did get mention in one of the Reuters stories, was the fact that many of the studies involved, not a normal healthy population where vitamin supplementation is suggested to preserve good health, but rather diseased populations with a variety of health issues.

International Experts Dispute Conclusions Of Antioxidant Review

    Quote:

The limitations of approach identified by the authors of the paper include studies with varied populations and that the effects of the antioxidants assessed were drawn from trials of both the general population and of diseased populations, including cardiovascular, renal and rheumatoid.

Further limitations included findings and interpretations that were identified as limited because of the quality and quantity of available evidence on the effects of specific supplements on mortality. The studies also embraced different antioxidants having different bioavailabilities and mechanisms of action, and the antioxidants were given at different doses, for different lengths of time, in different combinations, using different methodologies.

Dr Hirobumi Ohama, from the Japanese Institute for Heath Food Standards, said: “In some studies the mortality denominators among antioxidant and control groups are remarkably different and the inclusion of such diversified data may degrade the validity of the estimation.”

“The study authors concluded that overall there was no effect of antioxidant supplements on all-cause mortality,” said Dr Shao, explaining that it was only after the researchers divided the chosen clinical trials into ‘high risk bias’ and ‘low risk bias’ groups using their own criteria, that they observed a statistically significant effect on mortality.

The scientific network agreed that consumers could continue taking antioxidant food supplements for the benefits they provide.

Natural Products Association Says Medical Journal Study on Vitamins and Mortality is Flawed; Points to Research Showing Health Benefits and Urges People to Continue Proper Antioxidant Use

    Quote:

February 27, 2007 – WASHINGTON, D.C – The Natural Products Association today disputed the conclusions of a new meta-analysis appearing in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) suggesting that the use of antioxidants might increase mortality risk, saying that the study was scientifically misleading and that most clinical research continues to show that antioxidants are safe and beneficial.

“Despite the authors’ contention, this analysis is assessing mortality of at-risk and diseased populations – versus a healthy population – in prevention trials. The risk of mortality must be attributed to the appropriate population studied, those with an existing health condition, which it isn't in this case. Instead, those findings are generalized to a healthy general population, which is wrong on many levels,” said Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., vice president of scientific affairs for the Natural Products Association. “But what’s most troubling is that people who are safely and beneficially taking vitamins might stop, which may actually put their health at greater risk.”

Yes, you need antioxidants. Don't expect drug-company-influenced research to back it up though. They have a poisonous drug for you AFTER you get sick...so they have a financial incentive to not promote any of the decades of research showing the benefits of antioxidants in the body.
