Has anyone ever done a colon cleanse?

I need to fit into a bathingsuit in a week and i really would like to drop 10-20 pounds. i heard that by doing a colon cleanse it could help me, as well as help my metabolism and actually be good for you.

i have no problems and am on no medication. i'm 20

has anyone had any success with using a colon cleanser? and what brand did you use? thank you so muchHas anyone ever done a colon cleanse?
Colon cleanses are just a scam, any weight loss is completely temporary and comes at a high risk. This procedure can prevent your colon from absorbing key nutrients and lead to nerve damage and even death if done repeatedly. All of Gary Y's references are excellent, I'm adding another.

Here's a quote from the article:

';A fiber supplement might be useful in some circumstances, but the products you take that cause a mass of gunk to come out of you are a scam and I daresay, a blatant deception. The gunk only comes out of the people who take the product, because the gunk is created by the product!';

Now, some people who have drunk the colon cleanse Kool-Aid are going to rant about my answer and give it a thumbs down. All I would say to that is do your own research and talk to doctors and see what you discover to be the truth. I'm not worried.Has anyone ever done a colon cleanse?
A colon cleanse will not let you lose weight. You might have some initial weight loss, just because you're excreting fecal matter, but a colon cleanse is not considered a weight loss technique. In fact, really the only people who say such things are those trying to sell cleanses.

A colon cleanse will have no effect on your metabolism. Whether you do a hydro-colonic or take some herbs, its not going to affect your metabolism. It's basically just an enema/laxative.

Some cleanses claim that the human body carries around pounds of old fecal matter in the intestines, and that's simply not true. Like the person above me said...the colon is clean. It is self cleaning.

By doing a cleanse, you disrupt the colonies of beneficial micro-flora that thrive in the intestines and aid in the digestion of foods. If you go with a hydro-colonic, you could perforate your bowel.

There are some instances where a cleanse is needed, like if you need a colonoscopy, surgery, etc. But for overall health, maintenance, and weight loss, a cleanse is useless.

The best way to lose 10-20 lbs would be to stop looking for an easy way out. Get on the floor and do some crunches, go for a run/walk, and cut back on fatty and heavy foods and pick fruits and veggies instead.
I haven't heard of anyone dropping that much weight doing a cleanse. But, I know of people losing between 4 - 9 pounds. One time I had lost 3 pounds. I guess that's not what you are wanting to hear. You can use an enema or suppository and a laxative to cleanse. When I had to have surgery I had to use an enema and laxative to do a colon cleanse before the procedure. You should first check with your doctor's office or nurse to make sure this is okay for you.
There is no benefit in colon cleansing. Your colon is clean. Colon cleansing can be dangerous.

From Wiki:

';No scientific evidence supports the alleged benefits of colon cleansing. The bowel itself is not dirty and barring drugs or disease, cleans itself naturally without need for assistance. Some types of colon cleansing present potential hazards; the equipment used during colon cleansing has caused damage to the rectum in a small number of individuals, and caused amoebiasis when improperly sterilized. Certain enema preparations have been associated with heart attacks and electrolyte imbalances. Frequent colon cleansing may interfere with the proper functioning of the colon and can lead to dependence on laxatives or enemas to defecate. Some herbs used may also interact with or reduce the effectiveness of prescription drugs.';

With the greatest respect, I suggest a better fitting bathing suit would be a better investment.

Well I use nature cleanse and it's worked very well for me. My first month I lost about 12 pounds which may not sound like much but it's really not healthy for your body to loose weight too fast. I also try to eat right and work out when I can but that's all optional. I would suggest you ask a doctor first be make sure it's safe for you and if you do decide to try one be sure to read up on it and take it as directed. If you want to look more into what I use you can go to http://www.nature-cleanse.webs.com I hope this helps you out and good luck.
some asian teas are advertised as bowell cleansing tea, they use senna, but be warned they are extremely strong and give you major cramps but they work a treat. running also sheds pounds
whatever you do, do not try orange juice. I got a turkey baster full of some freshley squeezed OJ.......one word.....citrusburnslikeamotherfucker
