Is it okay to stop cleansing ourselves of the filthiness of the flesh and spirit?

I see people professing to be christians who carry the same sin around for years. When you ask them about getting the victory over it, they tell you that their trying, but its obvious their doing just as they want to, with no fear of God at all.

';Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God'; 2 Cr. 7:1.Is it okay to stop cleansing ourselves of the filthiness of the flesh and spirit?
No, I believe as we mature in age, we should be also 'growing in Christ'. This does mean leaving all the 'old baggage' from our former lives behind.

';Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.'; Matt 5:48--this should be our ultimate goal. Good question! Is it okay to stop cleansing ourselves of the filthiness of the flesh and spirit?
as a christian myself i think you should resist the temptations and try not to sin but if you do u should always ask God for forgiveness during your quiet times.
Can a person really cleanse themselves of all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. What is a Christian? A follower of the Christ. Can one really follow Christ and remain filthy and fleshy (Carnal)? Christians that do this is suffering in their spirits. Of course they are not going to tell you. Smile';praise the Lord'; everything is fine. Can you be a Christian in sin and not feel conviction? 1 John 1 chapter. God knows us and he knows our thoughts and ways. Can we hide anything from God? Luke 18.
Christians are funny... I agree.

Telling people that gay-relationship are wrong..

and that slavery is okay...

all the while they eat their shrimp, lobsters, and pork...

and wear their shirts made of multiple fibers.

Clean up your filth first...

Let everyone else do it at their leisure.
No, it's not ok.
Clean is good, but fear is dirty... Be clean because it's healthy and obey God because His way keeps life going.
I am one of those people you talk of. I am trying and I do fear God. I do not go to church, but I talk to God every day. I do not believe that you have to go to church to be close to God. I do try to get rid of my sins. but a sin free person does NOT exist! that is why Jesus died on the cross.

pray for them... I pray for myself and I will pray for you

God Bless.
pray for them.and also me

to be human is hard.thank God Jesus died for my sins and the worlds.pray that i may also do as Jesus would have me do.please pray for my heath also.GodBless you for reminding us of God plan and will for us.
If we stop attempting to cleanse iurselves and make our selves holy ( with God's guidance) we make God and ourselves a liar.
No it is not.
You make a good point.
The concept of filthiness of flesh or spirit is total nonsense, and hence not worth worrying about.
Yeah,... YOU'RE not a judgmental jerk.
The verses preceeding that one teach that we must separate ourselves from all that is contrary to the nature of God. Since few christians today separate themselves as God tells us they often lack the power to overcome sin and so it goes on and on.
No we're to be always progressing and growing In the Lord. If we LET Him He can bring change Into our life. However, there are such things that are Inherited such generational curses (sins of the father),Infirmities. These things need prayer, fasting %26amp; deliverance. Let God be your guide on how to do this. But It does require our participation too. We have to want to be set free as well.
Personally..I think that a lot of people see God as He is when ';veiled'; in Human flesh. They see Jesus Christ, merciful, loving %26amp; kind. They want to think that ';all roads'; lead to heaven %26amp; being with God. That God will not punish anyone..%26amp; there is either no hell ..or that ';hell won't be THAT bad'; or it will be ';short term';. They believe that God will forgive them no matter what..so who cares what they do?

But these people forget ...Heb 10:31 - It is a FEARFUL thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Ps 7:11 - God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day.

They forget that while Jesus Christ is the very HEART of God..God the Father is still the SAME GOD He was in the Old Testament. He is the same...yesterday, today %26amp; always.

But keep on praying for those that continue on in their sinfulness...for I can tell you from my own personal experience it took ELEVEN years %26amp; a lot of people praying...for ME...before I ';saw the Light'; and accepted Jesus as my LORD %26amp; Savior!

So my advise to your question here..Prayers avail MUCH! :)

oh yeah...one other thing..always remember we do NOT follow other people (who fall down or are blinded by this world) we follow a RISEN Savior...keep your eyes on Him alone...let Him worry about all the rest!

The battle belongs to God alone. (and I KNOW He wins)

**Hurray!!***
Don't they call ';cleansing yourself of flesh and spirit'; suicide? I mean, the only way they could both be truly clean is if they were non-existent.
I don't get this now, I didn't get it when I was involved in 'church' at a young age, and I'll never get it! 'Filthiness of flesh'. WTF???

If God made the human body with filth, what's the point? What is the filth?

To me its like going to a car dealer, purchasing a brand new car only to find out that half of the operating requirments are sinful, illegal.

Like, you can only turn it on if you have a passenger, fuel it up on Sundays only, stay in neutral at all times, wear only your best clothes while driving, etc. etc. etc...

Rules, rules, rules!

I say, Live, live, live! That IS why I am here!

There is no filth in my flesh!

Blessed Be
No. Sanctification is an ongoing process.
There is no filthiness of flesh and spirit..

This is who we are..

Just because you can't deal with it doesn't make it a sin

You have a chance to live your life experiencing......

Are You going to give it all up to sin....or the illusion of it

This is your chance to experience and make decisions based off your experience. Why give that up to a book What are you so afraid of....

This is life....participate if you have the courage
Its called human nature some Christians are weaker than others
we must cleanse ourselves. some however do have

a particular sin that easily besets them. working on a

sin that is deep seeded may take years to overcome

because of the age of onset, ( like a abuse issue that

started before the age of 4 will be harder to overcome

as it is imprinted before one has knowledge of sin). so

working on sin is a must, but how long that takes is not

a set time limit. our salvation is a gift. our gift back is

overcoming deep seeded sin.
right on.
It's not always as easy for some folks, me included to rid ourselves forever of darkness. Have you ever heard the story about people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones? We are all sinners to the very end. Some of us have to work a little harder to cleanse our spirit. We all learn at our own pace. So be nice!
Yep...
II Corinthians 7:1 ';Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.';

The promises that Paul is stating in this verse are the promises stated and studied in the first six chapters of this book of Second Corinthians. We perfect ourselves and clean out all filthiness and become holy through our reverence to God. When God is dwelling within you, Satan will attack you, so don't get to thinking that you are safe in some fort or hiding place from Satan. Satan will come against you, only you will not be on the defense, but the offence. However, when you perfect, or adjust in your mind to take on the holiness of God, through the study of His Word and your prayer life, then you will always win. There just is no room in your mind for entertaining Satan in any manner within your mind. In Paul's letter to the Romans in Romans 12:1, Paul wrote: ';I Beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present you bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is you reasonable service.'; It becomes your duty to have this renewing of mind to perfect holiness in reverence to our heavenly Father.
It must be sad going through life considering yourself to be filthy and unworthy, having no self -esteem. I'm sorry for you.
Just keep them in your prayers, babe. The truth will show in time.
i like when christians say: ';flesh is weak';
I see that you are one of Minnie's contacts. Well my christian friend this woman has a demon stuck in her yahoo. Any one who claims christ and advocates me being shot because I am frustrated with my dog needs to remove the cross off her neck and pry that demon out of her yahoo.
